Service择日Auspicious Date Selection

Choosing the right day — and hour — for the events that set something in motion: a marriage, a renovation, a move, an opening, a signing.

In short: Auspicious date selection (择日) is the practice of choosing a date and time for a significant undertaking so that the timing supports the intended outcome. In classical practice the date is not selected from a generic almanac alone: it is matched against the Bazi of the people involved and the nature of the activity itself.

Occasions commonly selected

  • Weddings — the marriage registration and ceremony, matched to the couple's charts.
  • Renovation and groundbreaking — the date work commences on a property.
  • Moving in (入伙) — taking occupancy of a new home.
  • Business openings — launching a shop, office or new premises.
  • Signings and agreements — contracts, purchases and other commitments.
  • Burial and ancestral rites — arranged in conjunction with Yin Feng Shui work.

Why a generic almanac is not enough

A date that is broadly favourable may still clash with the Bazi of the individuals involved. Classical date selection cross-references the general calendar against the charts of the people the event concerns — the couple, the business owner, the head of the household — and against the specific type of activity. A good wedding date and a good groundbreaking date are not chosen on the same criteria.

How far ahead to ask

The earlier the better, because a genuinely suitable date cannot be manufactured on demand. Give as much notice as your circumstances allow, and share the window you are working within. Where a deadline is fixed and the ideal date falls outside it, the best available option within your window is identified, with its trade-offs explained rather than glossed over.

What to provide

The nature of the event, your preferred window or any fixed constraints, and the birth dates and times of the principal people involved. Date selection is handled remotely without difficulty, for clients anywhere.

Where this is offered

On-site work throughout Malaysia, with clients also served in Singapore and China.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just use an almanac (通勝)?

A generic almanac gives broadly favourable days, but a date that suits people in general may still clash with the Bazi of the individuals involved. Classical date selection cross-references the calendar against the charts of the people concerned and the specific type of activity.

How far in advance should I ask?

As early as your circumstances allow. A genuinely suitable date cannot be manufactured on demand, so a wider window produces a better result. Where a deadline is fixed, the best available option within that window is identified and its trade-offs explained.

What information do you need?

The nature of the event, the window you are working within or any fixed constraints, and the birth dates and times of the principal people involved — the couple for a wedding, the owner for a business opening, the head of household for a move.

Can date selection be done remotely?

Yes. Date selection requires only your details and the nature of the event, so it is handled remotely without difficulty for clients anywhere.
